We’ve discovered that in all our activity for God, it’s easy to lose sight of our lives in God. Over and over again, we’ve seen this simple truth played out in the lives of countless Christian leaders. Our Calling, as is every believer’s in Christ, is to know Him and reflect Him in our world. Our Creed declares the direction of our calling, while Our Values express the way we intend to live. These foundational truths fuel Our Passion: walking a God-ward life and cultivating worshiping communities. – See more at: http://meintl.org/about-us/ethos/#sthash.zQLbVesU.dpuf

Thus, Our Mission is to join Christian leaders in their journey of faith, challenge their assumptions about life and God, and inspire a fuller experience of Him. As a result, We Envision a paradigm shift in the way churches are planted, the Gospel is preached, and mission is viewed when leaders function out of an ever deepening passion for Christ.

Brad buying stones

I currently live in Knoxville, Tennessee with my wife Joyce. I provide psychoeducational assessments to students all over the world either online or in person. Previously, I worked as a School Psychologist in a public school setting with experience as a school district special education administrator as well. I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Grace College (Winona Lake, IN) in Behavioral Studies and a minor in Biblical studies in 1981. I attended Talbot Seminary and then Philadelphia College of Bible (now called Cairn University) with Joyce where we received our Masters degree in Christian Counseling together. I also attended Azusa Pacific University completing two-thirds of my Doctorate in Psychology, but made a course change to Educational Psychology. It is my desire to use my experience and training in the area of educational psychology internationally to help families who have children struggling to learn.

I have been married to Joyce for 40 years and we have two adult children and one grandson. We currently reside and work from Knoxville, Tennessee.

It is my desire to help global worker’s families by helping identify learning difficulties that their children may have. When a child has a learning problem parents are touched deeply and motivated to help them.

I believe that God has designed each of us with unique gifts that sometimes include what our culture would call a “disability”. However, if we can see a child’s uniqueness for what it has to offer in glorifying God then we may look at learning disabilities very differently. I love to see God’s design in action, I want to see Christ glorified in the way He has created them, I long to see God work. There is nothing more exciting than to see the incredible way in which Christ accomplishes His plan. I want to use my gift with children to be a part of this work.

My Job description

My activities are twofold. First, I conduct psychoeducational assessments for international children with suspected learning problems. Learning disabilities typically reach over 10% of all children. Second, I work full-time for a local school district as a school psychologist.

I currently serve as a School Psychologist Knox County Schools in Knoxville, Tennessee. I have been a School Psychologist for a number of years and a special/general education teacher prior to that. I have experience in both Elementary and Middle Schools with students in a public school setting. I enjoy cooking but especially enjoy making desserts. I recently started a new hobby painting. I have been married to Brad for 40 years and we have two adult children and one grandson.

I have a passion for helping others, while in the United States, I loved volunteering at church nearly every week, and previously ran to raise support for water in Uganda through World Vision, I also love hiking and much more.

Joyce Trottman

My perspective

I desire to help children see their strengths and even learn that their difficulties can give them a different perspective which makes them uniquely gifted to glorify God—to even see an opportunity rather than an impediment. My conclusions often start from the perspective that we all have something that is difficult and that difficulty can be an opportunity to develop strength and an awareness of how God wants to develop and use each of us.

Hebrews 12:1-3

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders . . . and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith who for the joy set before him enduring the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of God.”

Educationally speaking

God has given me a passion for supporting children with special needs and their families. I enjoy helping to solve the mystery of what is getting in their way of learning, relating to others, or understanding their emotions.

In my years as a special education teacher and then as a school psychologist (about 27 years), I have especially developed knowledge in ADHD, autism, behavior, and learning disabilities. My husband and I are licensed in California to help determine the presence of disabling conditions that may significantly impact a child’s education. My reports are based on eligibility standards and the information needed to guide educational plans in the US.

My previous job description in Hungary

I worked as a school psychologist at the International Christian School of Budapest. ICSB is a school of 200+ students in grades K – 12.

I  worked with the staff of ICSB to observe and plan for adaptations or support for children who are struggling in an area of school functioning. We monitored these interventions and if the difficulties are continuing, I and the special education team did a full psychoeducational assessment of the child’s needs. My part of the assessment wasto determine a child’s cognitive, reasoning strengths and weaknesses, processing patterns, language abilities, and behavior or emotional trends. I also wrote reports for parents and school professionals. As a part of the educational team, we made recommendations based on the assessments to determine what accommodations or supports the child needed. We would also monitor the plan and the child’s progress and adjust as needed within the structure of ICSB.
